Meet Cleo!

She tricked us, you know. When we went to the Refuxio de Animais last week to “just have a look” at the cats they had at the shelter, we saw Cleo (unfortunately, then named Beyonche), calm and sleepy, hanging out in the back of her cage. We picked her up, she fell asleep in our arms, and we were smitten. We took her home, where she didn’t meow or cry or whine or bite us, but slept soundly and sat quietly for the first 24 hours.

We had no idea what we were in for.

Sometime around noon on the second day, Cleo (short for Cleopatra, for her Egyptian eyes) decided she felt comfortable enough in the house and was fairly sure we weren’t going to eat her, and since then, she’s had only two modes: Asleep and In Trouble.

Fortunately for her, she’s about the cutest thing we’ve ever seen, and it’s pretty impossible not to love her, even when she uses your leg as a scratching post and hitches a ride on your back with her claws, because then she falls asleep on your lap and looks like this:

How could we resist?
